Summary - Address by Former President José María Aznar

On the eve of Spain’s general elections and with the U.S. presidential contest in full swing, Jose María Aznar, former president of the Government of Spain, provided insight on economic and political relations between Europe and America.

He talked to the audience in Spanish and referred to issues such as economic affairs between the U.S. and Spain. He also analyzed U.S.-Spanish relations over the past four years and gave his vision for the coming four.

With respect to other issues, he talked about economic growth in Spain, the United States and all around Europe, making some remarks about Latin America and Africa as well.

He showed his disbelief over such statements such as “Globalization is the reason for all the damage in the world”, and explained his position.

Former President Aznar said that he considers himself a Liberal European, and explained the importance of having everything “in order at home”.
